Salt and Sand Ceremony

Salt symbolizes purity, good luck and power. For a wedding ceremony, the couple passes a handful of salt to each other and then gives it to their families to pass between them. The couple then pours two shades of sand into one vessel. The remaining salt seals the vessel to symbolize the convenant made by the couple and the blending of two families.
